Welcome to my blog about journalism. No! Don’t open a new
tab. Let me explain myself!
I’m a 21-year-old journalist from Irving, Texas. I’m
graduating from TCU in December. Go Frogs!
I will use this blog to explore cool and different ways
young people can consume their news. I will feature innovative ways news
outlets use the magic of the Internet to capture and invoke thought.
This might not sound like a page turner for every single one
of you but it definitely affects you.
This is important to my generation because right now, our
source for news is focused on our parents and grandparents. I understand that some
outlets are suffering financially and they focus on the older crowd. Yeah, this
is where the money is but I want to spice things up a bit and let the young
readers out there learn about new ways to get the facts fast.
I know very few young adults who wait for the morning paper
to get their fill of what’s happening right this second. Social media will obviously be a huge portion
of this blog but I hope to find some things that you don’t already use or know
about.
If you like something I feature on the blog, comment and let
me know why. I want to gauge where our generation is headed and once I’m hired,
I will use this blog to show my employer how to grab a 20-something’s
attention.
This will be weekly updated blog and I’m very open to any ideas
y’all have on this subject. Email me at lexy.b.cruz@tcu.edu
and talk with me about things you see and I’ll feature it on here. This will be
weekly updated blog.
I think this is awesome. I would love to hear how you think video will be integrated in future journalism endeavors.
